Liberal MP Seamus O'Regan enters alcohol program

Liberal MP and former television journalist Seamus O’Regan says he’s decided to enter a “wellness program” to combat struggles with alcohol.

O’Regan made the announcement on Sunday afternoon in a series of tweets. The MP for St. John’s South-Mount Pearl says he expects to be back at work before Parliament resumes on Jan. 25.

O’Regan, a former host on CTV’s Canada AM, has been open about his struggles with depression. In 2014, he was a mental health spokesperson for the annual Bell Let’s Talk campaign, which aims to open a national conversation on mental health issues.
