Police are warning the public not to touch a mineral, containing poison, which was stolen in downtown Toronto.
The heart-shaped mineral is approximately eight centimetres by 10 centimetres and has a protective coating due to its arsenic content.
“If handled incorrectly, the coating could break, exposing the arsenic,” the police said in a statement. “This arsenic is a potent poison, and could be harmful or fatal if ingested, especially to children.”
The mineral was stolen near Yonge and Grosvenor Streets on Oct. 15, between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m., police said.
Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 416-808-5200, or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 416-222-TIPS (8477).
