Torontoarea teens arrested for wearing clown masks, scaring people in car police


Three teenagers are facing nuisance charges after they were allegedly caught driving in a Toronto-area neighbourhood wearing clown masks and scaring people on the street.

Durham Regional Police said officers responded to a disturbance call on Oct. 14 around 3:30 p.m. in Oshawa, east of Toronto, regarding a suspicious vehicle.

Police said they located a grey Saturn with three occupants inside wearing clown masks.

Witnesses told officers the vehicle was stopping near other cars and pedestrians scaring bystanders.

Police said a 19-year-old was charged with cause a nuisance and careless driving. A 19-year-old man and an 18-year-old woman were also charged with cause a nuisance.

Durham police said they have responded to 31 calls of scary clown sightings since the beginning of the month.
