West Island Cancer Wellness Centre reaches capital campaign goal

The West Island Cancer Wellness Centre has reached its $3-million fundraising goal and will move from Beaconsfield to its new facility in Kirkland in early November.

The money will pay for the construction of the new building and its furnishings.

The Kirkland facility is three times the size of the original building.

According to 2015 statistics from the Canadian Cancer Society, the number of people with cancer is expected to increase by an estimated 40 per cent during the next 15 years.

Without financing from government, the WICWC relies 100 per cent on private donations to keep operating.

The centre offers free programs that focus on social, psychological and spiritual support for people living with cancer.
