Lafontaine Tunnel reopens after collision causes shutdown

Traffic was flowing in the northbound Lafontaine Tunnel again Monday afternoon after a collision led authorities to completely close the link between Montreal and the South Shore.

The problem started at about 1 p.m. when three large trucks collided on Highway 25 northbound, blocking two of three lanes on the approach to the Lafontaine entrance.

At 2:30 p.m., a Transport Quebec spokesperson said all three lanes were closed to allow for the trucks to be towed.

An hour later, the trucks had been removed and the three lanes were reopened.
