Service is back to normal after the presence of smoke caused by a braking problem led the Société de transport de Montréal to close parts of the métro Green and Orange lines on Monday afternoon.

“A train braked too abruptly (at Charlevoix station) and this caused smoke under the train,” STM spokesperson Amélie Régis told the Montreal Gazette.

The Green Line was closed between Angrignon and Berri-UQAM at about 1:41 p.m. Service had resumed by 2:25 p.m.

Orange Line service was suspended between Snowdon and Berri-UQAM, at about 1:50 p.m. Service had resumed by 2:05 p.m.
