Frost advisory issued in parts of Alberta as temperatures expected to drop

A frost advisory was issued for several areas in Alberta on Wednesday, just days after heat records were broken in Edmonton and in Calgary.

Environment Canada said temperatures were expected to fall to freezing overnight as skies clear and light winds pick up.

The weather agency issues the warnings when temperatures drop to freezing during the growing season. The frost can potentially damage plants and crops.

The advisory was issued for various parts of central and northern Alberta. For a complete list of weather warnings, watches and advisories in the province, click here.

Residents of affected areas were encouraged to cover up plants, especially in frost-prone areas.
