Plante, Coderre to appear on Quebec”s Tout le monde en parle together

It is a relentlessly popular staple of Quebec weekend television viewing that has been credited with contributing to the NDP’s 2011 breakthrough in this province simply because then-party leader Jack Layton was one of its guests.

So even if two official debates pitting Montreal mayoral candidates Denis Coderre and Valérie Plante against each other have been scheduled for this month, both politicians may well be saving their campaign fastballs — or bombshells — for this Sunday’s edition of Tout le monde en parle.

The Radio-Canada talk show, which for politicians can be a lion’s den or a priceless way to share one’s platform with an audience that routinely attracts more than one million viewers, announced Wednesday evening via Twitter that Coderre and Plante will be guests on this Sunday’s broadcast.

The program will be aired four days before a French-language mayoral debate organized by the Board of Trade of Greater Montreal and eight days before an English-language debate organized by CJAD, CTV and the Montreal Gazette.
